Batibou Beach, Calibishie, Dominica

May 17th, 2008

Dominica is undoubtedly the most beautiful island in the Caribbean.  However, it often gets a bad wrap that it does not have nice beaches.  This is actually a myth.  Dominica, particularly the area around Calibishie, has some of the most beautiful beaches you will find anywhere.  Batibou Beach is our favorite, but Hodges Bay, Hampstead, Turtle and Point Baptiste are also really nice.  Lush greenery, red rock cliffs, and relative seclusion (compared to most Caribbean beaches, make them truly special.  They are somewhat difficult to find, so take a guide or ask around, because they are well worth it.    See pictures - all shown are beaches in the Calibishie area:  http://www.calibishiecove.com/photos.html

Beach with Waterfall

May 17th, 2008

We visited Wavine Cyrique - beautiful waterfall that lands on a hidden beach only accessible by boat or by climbing down the side of a cliff on tree roots.  It is not easy, but worth the struggle.  We do recommend a guide and proper shoes with good tractions.

Enjoy!

Dominica is amazing!
